Pre 2000

These examples of Clare Flint’s earlier figurative works have, in the main, a direct confrontational style. Much of this work investigates the effect of environment, interior and exterior, on both the individual and the mass. For example, one series of work contemplates issues around urban/rural divides. Self-portraits have always been and continue to be significant in the artist’s practice as a way to develop and encapsulate emotion through drawing and painting.
